Foundations of Clinical Hypnosis; by Edwin K. Yager, Ph.D.

Published by Crown House (2009)  • Item #FCH (Hardcover) - Price $35

“When I initially saw the title of this book, I was prepared for an exploration of hypnosis. What I wasn't prepared for was such a fabulously comprehensive and compelling read. I am sure this will become one of the major texts in the field of hypnosis.

This is a long-awaited and excellent account of the multiplicity of hypnosis that will be a valuable resource for both new and experienced therapists. It doesn't get hung up on specific one-sided approaches to using hypnosis, but gives the reader ample information to be able to make an informed choice that will ultimately benefit the reader's therapeutic work. As well as telling us about what we need to know, the book also tells us about the lesser known aspects of hypnosis. For over a decade I have been searching for a book like this. Marvelous, exciting for the profession — and a credit to the author.”

— Tom Barber, Principle Tutor - Contemporary College of Therapeutic Studies

Subliminal Therapy: Using the Mind to Heal;

by Edwin K. Yager, Ph.D.

Published by Crown House (2011) • Item #STUMH - Price $30

Note: an Audiobook version is available, below.

Subliminal Therapy (ST) is a technique that is hypnotically mediated and utilizes the capabilities of a higher level of the patient’s intelligence to accomplish consciously desired change. This “higher level of mental functioning” is identified and addressed in therapy as “Centrum.” In applying ST, direct, rational communication takes place between Centrum and the clinician, with the patient consciously acting as the vehicle of communication from Centrum to the clinician.

Subliminal Therapy empowers the patient by providing awareness of causal influences, thereby facilitating resolution by the patient. The process of Subliminal Therapy is guided by the clinician via a logical progression of questions, with responses from Centrum, in the course of which Centrum is engaged to uncover and resolve the cause of the presenting problem. When the cause is resolved, the symptoms cease to exist. Subliminal Therapy is appropriate when the presenting problem is psychogenic, i.e., that the problem is the consequence of earlier life experience. It is assumed that we are conditioned by our experiences in life, usually without conscious awareness that it’s happening, and that such conditioning can result in dysfunction, both physical and mental.

This is a “how to” book on the use of this technique.

This course was video-recorded at the UCSD School of Medicine, in San Diego, California, in the facilities of the Office of Learning Resources, during the Summer of 2001. "Subliminal Therapy" by Edwin K. Yager, Ph.D.

• Item # ST (2 DVDs) - Price $50

Subliminal Therapy is a technique of psychotherapy that utilizes unconscious abilities to achieve consciously desired change. This video provides training in its use and offers background, theory and application instructions (Part I), followed by two demonstrations with annotations (Part II).

The Procedure of Subliminal Therapy: After defining the goal of therapy, the patient is instructed in the theory and model of Subliminal Therapy and is taught to recognize communications from the unconscious domain of his mind - as differentiated from conscious opinion. By direct communication with his unconscious, in a logical progression of steps, the patient is guided to achieve insight regarding the therapeutic goal and to remove barriers to its achievement. Insights that are initially surprising, and perhaps that challenge conscious beliefs, are often encountered.

Subliminal Therapy was conceived by Dr. Yager in 1974. Since that time, the development and teaching of the principles of Subliminal Therapy, have become a significant focus of Dr. Yager's professional life. Dr. Yager wrote the paper entitled "Utilizing Unconscious Abilities in Therapy: Subliminal Therapy" as an aid to teaching the principles of Subliminal Therapy. A precursor of this paper was published in 1978, in the Journal of the American Academy of Medical Hypnoanalysis, 11-4. The current version of this manuscript is available to you without charge in Adobe PDF Format.
